In Memory of Dexter Dale Kirk

The Pop Warner Redwood City 49er’s lost a true supporter in May. Dexter Kirk, a long time coach with the Redwood City 49er’s passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 20th. Dexter had just turned 51 on May 12th.

Dexter had been with the RC49ers for 12 years. His daughters Amber & Ashley cheered for the organization and his son Joshua played football. Dexter was a cheer coach for Redwood City and was always there to lend a helping hand; most recently, he was our organization photographer.

In 2002 he led the Midget Cheer squad, ages 13-15, to 3rd place victory at the Pop Warner Regional Cheer Championships. This was a huge accomplishment for Redwood City Cheer. He brought the girls together to make a great team. That is not a small feat when you’re dealing with teenage girls, as any parent will tell you.

Dexter was a loving, caring, selfless person, he gave his all to this organization and to everything in his life. Dexter was a true example of what the word “volunteer” is and means.

To Dexter, family was first, and he did everything he could to make sure his children were taken care of through bad times and good. He always stood strong and had a smile on his face.

The Redwood City 49er’s will miss Dexter very much. He leaves behind three daughters, Amber, Ashley & Tiffany and his son Joshua, along with his life partner Heidi Anderson and her sons Dylan & Shane.

The Redwood City 49er’s have set up The Dexter Kirk Memorial Fund in an effort to help the family offset costs incurred because of this tragedy. Please send any donations to: The Dexter Kirk Memorial Fund, c/o Redwood City 49ers, P.O. Box 3541, Redwood City, CA. 94064

On behalf of the Kirk Family and the Redwood City 49er’s, your contribution is greatly appreciated.
